Questions
Trauma-Informed Dental Program FAQ
I haven't been to the dentist in years. Is that okay?
Yes. There's no judgment. We start gently, explain everything and go at your pace.
What makes the cleaning trauma-informed?
You stay in control: we explain each step, agree on a signal to pause, offer breaks and shorter visits, and never rush.
Can you help with a strong gag reflex?
Yes. We adjust positioning, pacing and techniques, and take breaks whenever you need them.
Do I have to see a counsellor?
No. Counselling is optional. Some patients find a session or two helps them feel more confident.
Is this covered by CDCP or insurance?
Dental hygiene is covered by CDCP for eligible patients and by most dental plans. Counselling is billed separately and is covered by many extended health plans.
